A Family Who We Helped

This single parent family was one of our beneficiaries of our Teddy Bear Fund:

For the last few years, a little girl has gone through many minor medical surgeries on her teeth. Her Mother, has had to pay for the high cost of trying to save her daughter's baby teeth in order to have the adult teeth come in properly. Her Mother has not had much help from her daughter's father. While Mom has gotten some child maintenance from the father, it has not been enough. This single Mom struggles every day with all these bills.

On October 7th, 2007, this young mother received a phone call from her daughter's school at approximately 1 pm. By 3:00 pm, her daughter was in the children's hospital and had suffered a stroke on her right side which made her left side stop working and drooping considerably.

Mom had to stay in the hospital with her daughter 24 hours a day for two weeks. This single Mom almost lost her job!

The will power of little girl was great, as she only liked the wheel chair for play and used her inner strength to over come not being able to walk. This little trooper is now out of the hospital but not out of the woods. She is now at a 2 year old stage and needs to learn all over again.

Now she has to have special therapists to work with her and her Mother. Last week, (of November 12th, 2007) this little trooper suffered a seizure at school. The school called for an ambulance and Mom had to leave work to spend many hours in the emergency room.

This single Mother's medical does not pay for this or medical fees over and above what health care pays for and then there are the medicines this little girl needs!

This is where the Temple of Alexandria's Teddy Bear Fund and Scholarship helped this family out with paying for some of this child's medical costs.
